I don't know exactly what the Surface Book has on the USB3.0. The dock itself can do it in any case. But whether the Book can do the standards, I don't know. My Surface Pro7 with USB-C works in any case and also an old notebook of mine. but then again not another one. Exactly, the standard is the issue.
Yes - I use the docking station with my work notebook (Lenovo X380 Yoga) and my personal MacBook Pro 13" - 2019. At the beginning I had some problems with the MacBook. The integrated screen flickered as it would switch screens, but no image was ever displayed on the external monitors. After a firmware update of the docking station everything worked tiptop.

It is important that the drivers for the D6000 are installed on the laptop. Do external screens and other devices connected via USB work? If so, the connection may be defective. It works fine for me. The drivers can be downloaded from the Dell home page and must be installed without the laptop being connected to the docking station. Then connect it and update the firmware on the docking station (can also be downloaded from the Dell home page). Sincerely, A.Locher

I can recommend this docking station. It works with all my laptops. USB C and also USB A. I have a 4K monitor and it works with 60Hz! But not with my small laptop. It only does 30Hz. So the display(s) work. (Install Display Port) But if the Surface Pro 5 can handle the resolution and the 60Hz you have to try it out. And don't forget the cable! HDMI, MiniHDMI.
And another thing: Whether you can charge with 65W depends on your device. I have not been able to get 65W via USB A.

The docking station itself already has an integrated usb-a adapter that you can slide onto the usb-c connector.
So yes. All functions are also available via usb-.
Yep, works fine for me with 2 monitors. I didn't get on at all with the Surface docking station.

ps: Because of the charging it is really no problem. 65W is enough to charge. however, there is a battery message that you can switch off.
My XPS won't really charge. The charging gyro comes up but with a warning that this is too weak a source. I always connect the stromadspter to it
I have the docking station running on my Huawai MatebBook 13 with a Philips 40 inch UHD (4K) monitor at 60Hz. Via the USB C port. And it also charges at 60W. So I think that should work.
No, it does not work. The iPad recognises USB-C but the monitor shows that the connected device does not support the protocol.

Yes ... that works. I use the part with a Dell XPS15 (Thunderbolt) and my business notebook with USB-C. I can't say whether it's enough to charge the notebook. I can't say whether it's enough to charge the notebook. That also works with the Dell XPS15. It complains about too little power ... but it works.
Yes, tip top. I use the dock daily with a MacBook Pro 13 inch.
