Application Purpose
The KNX weather station captures meteorological data such as wind speed, precipitation, twilight, temperature, and brightness in three direction-dependent measurements. Its primary application area is the automatic, weather-dependent shading control, specifically designed for home use. To enhance operational reliability, the weather station self-monitors several key functions and autonomously reports any errors via notification objects on the bus. It is intended for outdoor mounting on a mast or wall. The bus coupling to the KNX is integrated. Data evaluation, particularly threshold processing, is already performed within the weather station. It is protected against frost and condensation by a built-in heater down to -20 °C. The heater also ensures quick drying of the precipitation sensor's sensor surface after rain and facilitates defrosting in snow and ice. The unit is powered by the bus, except for the heater and the power supply for the precipitation sensor. The weather station requires an external 24 V AC/DC power supply for the heater, without which precipitation detection is not possible. Logic gates are available for cascading multiple weather stations and linking threshold values and monitoring functions. Blocking elements allow for the local disabling of individual functions.
