Product details

Among the trains that attract attention both in real life and in models are the long unit trains. They are typically made up of a single type of wagon. For example, the "Lange Heinrich," an ore train that was still pulled by the powerful steam locomotives of the series 043 in the 1970s, is fondly remembered. However, there are also cargoes that are very sensitive to moisture and therefore cannot be transported in wagons like the type Falns 182. From 1982, Talbot built a total of 140 units of a wagon designated Tals 968 for the Deutsche Bundesbahn. These wagons were equipped with a tilting roof that optimally protects the cargo, which was usually salt for the chemical industry in this case. Visually, the Tals 968 stands out primarily due to its angled roof supports, which extend the wagon body at the front and give it a more robust appearance. With a tare weight of around 25 tons, the maximum cargo can be 65 tons. Thus, with 24 wagons in the prototype, a very respectable load would accumulate, requiring a powerful locomotive. Here, the incredibly strong series 151 can shine. The tilting roof wagons of type Tals 968 run not only in unit trains but also in mixed trains. In both cases, they always make a good impression, whether on the layout or in the display case. Prototype: 24 four-axle, spacious tilting roof wagons of type Tals 968 from the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). Used for transporting moisture-sensitive bulk goods. Reddish-brown base color. All wagons with 2 transition platforms. 12 wagons with a handbrake on one transition platform and 12 wagons without a handbrake. Bogies of type 665. Operational condition around 1984. Model: Tilting roof wagon in scale and detailed execution, with many added individual details. 24 different operating numbers. All wagons with 2 added transition platforms each and 12 wagons with a handwheel at the end of the wagon.
