Product details

Among the trains that attract attention both in real life and in models are the long unit trains. They are typically made up of a single type of wagon. For example, the "Lange Heinrich," an ore train that was still pulled by the powerful steam locomotives of the Class 043 in the 1970s, is fondly remembered. However, there are also cargoes that are very sensitive to moisture and therefore cannot be transported in wagons like those of type Falns 182. From 1982 onwards, Talbot built a total of 140 units of a wagon designated Tals 968 for the Deutsche Bundesbahn. These wagons were equipped with a tipping roof that optimally protects the cargo, which was mostly salt for the chemical industry in this case. Visually, the Tals 968 stands out mainly due to its bent roof beams, which extend the wagon body at the front and give it a more robust appearance. With a tare weight of around 25 tons, the maximum load can reach 65 tons. The tipping roof wagons of type Tals 968 are not only used in unit trains but also in mixed freight. In both cases, they always make a good impression, whether on the layout or in the display case. Prototype: Four-axle, spacious tipping roof wagons of type Tals 968 from the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). Used for transporting moisture-sensitive bulk goods. Reddish-brown basic color scheme. All wagons equipped with two transition platforms. Bogies of type 665. Operational condition around 1984. Model: Tipping roof wagon in scale and detailed design, with many added features. Buffer height for all wagons according to NEM. Length over buffers per wagon 14.4 cm. DC wheelset per wagon E700580. The matching new design of the heavy freight electric locomotive Class 151 can also be found in the Märklin H0 range.
